Day 2 ...

I thought that I would take a few pictures of 2 of my colleagues and the office here in Singapore.

Singapore is a very clean and tidy Country/City. It is certainly not a smokers paradise as there are only certain areas where you are allowed to smoke and if the Police see you throwing away a cigarette butt then you automatically get a fine of 50 Singapore Dollars – which is equivalent to approx DKK 250,00

And its true with regards to chewing gum … its illegal and your not even allowed to take it into the Country

Yesterday evening Rene (my colleague) took me sightseeing to Mount Faber  – well its like back in Denmark with “Himmelbjerget” (Sky Mountain) … where Mount Faber is only 106 meters high and is one of the local attractions.

We started out with a cable car ride from Crystal Palace (Faber Mountain) out to an island called Sentosa where we walked around is some fantastic Gardens and Malls that were filled with restaurants and Casinos.

Just as we arrived at the Cable car enterance.

Cable car ny night

We found a great place called “Chillies” where we both ordered a king sized chili burger … with fries.

Just outside the restaurant something flew into the left hand side of my face (not hard) and I thought it was a bird or a bat or something of that nature because it was huge …. well to my great surprise it was a butterfly and it was ABSOLUTELY HUGE. I tried to run after to take a photo but it vanished as quickly as it appeared.

IT WAS THIS SIZE ... and I'm not kidding

BUT LOOKED LIKE THIS

There were statues everywhere of half Lion and half Mermaid. I was told that this is the national symbol of Singapore. It was something to do when the Chinese first discovered the island (now Singapore) and they told tales of its beauty and the “Merlion” a creature that was half Lion and half Mermaid.

                                                                     A "Merlion"

Driving back to the Hotel I asked Rene what that “contraption” was that was stuck to his front windscreen. It was a small oblong box with a credit card put into the one side. He told me that all cars have to have one by Law. You see, Singapore has a system where you don't have to physically pay for car parks or toll roads etc … it is all done automatically … one is automatically registered and the amount take from your card (which has to be “filled up” now and again. Smart isn’t it?

Stay tuned for day 3 ........
